Domaine Marc Portaz

France

Domaine Marc Portaz is a small, family-run estate in Chapareillan, at the foot of Mont Granier in Savoie. The Portaz family farms 30–50-year-old Jacquère vines in limestone-rich, stony soils under HVE certification, using low-intervention methods that avoid pesticides and include natural vine management. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, then aged on fine lees. Winemaker Jean-Marc Portaz, trained in Dijon, California and New Zealand, crafts wines that reflect the estate’s artisanal, family-led approach.
