Château Durfort-Vivens

France

Château Durfort‑Vivens is a 2nd‑Growth estate in Margaux, with vineyards across Margaux, Cantenac, Soussans and Arsac on gravelly soils. Owned by the Lurton family since 1961, it has been led by Gonzague Lurton as owner‑manager and winemaker since 1992, with Léopold Valentin as technical director. The estate has farmed biodynamically since 2009 and has been certified organic and biodynamic, including Demeter, since 2016. Its approach combines agroecology and precision viticulture, including hand pruning, bud removal, ploughing, cover crops, compost, phytotherapy, and annual “0 residues” testing, alongside low‑intervention winemaking.
