Chozas Carrascal

Chozas Carrascal is a family-owned winery in San Antonio, Requena, established in 1990 and now led by the second generation. Its high-altitude vineyards, at 750–840 metres, are certified organic and farmed without herbicides, using organic sheep manure and natural biodiversity for pest control. The estate includes old vines, including Bobal planted in 1928, and vineyards that coexist with almond and olive trees. Winemaking is parcel-focused and minimally interventionist, with individual fermentation by variety, gentle extraction and a preference for letting each wine follow its course. The winery produces Mediterranean wines and cavas under its D.O.P., favouring blends that express the character of the varieties, soils and climate. Its wines are described as concentrated and distinctly mineral, with extended ageing used for some cuvées.
