Von Strasser is a Napa Valley producer focused on Cabernet Sauvignon from the Diamond Mountain District, where Rudy von Strasser is recognized as a founding figure in the AVA’s establishment in 1999. Rudy and Rita acquired and modernized the historic Roddis Estate Winery in 1990, raising their three children at the site. Rudy remains identified as owner and winemaker. The estate includes vineyards planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside smaller plantings of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Grüner Veltliner at elevations of 500–1,000 feet. The winery retains one Diamond Mountain vineyard and works with fruit from five additional vineyards. Its Post Vineyard, planted by Rudy in 1993, shares the estate’s soils and exposures and includes three Cabernet clones and a Merlot selection. Production later expanded to Petite Sirah.
