Mottura

Italy

Mottura is a fourth-generation family winery in Tuglie, Salento, Puglia, founded in 1927 and still based on its historic late 19th-century estate. The producer is closely tied to local varieties, especially Primitivo and Negroamaro, and focuses on expressing the character of Salento through wines that balance tradition and modern technique. Vineyard work includes alberello pugliese and spalliera training, with some hand-picked fruit from bush-trained vines, while ageing for top wines takes place in oak barriques and tonneaux. Mottura follows the Integrated Production Protocol and SQNPI-certified practices, limiting synthetic pesticides and emphasizing traceability and control from vineyard to bottle. The style is rooted in native grapes, regional identity, and a combination of craftsmanship and careful technical precision.
