Weingut Geil

Germany

Oekonomierat Geil is a family-owned winery in Bechtheim, Rheinhessen, founded by Georg Geil in 1871 and still under Geil family control. The estate emphasizes sustainable farming and production, with FAIR CHOICE certification and participation in Wine in Moderation. Its practices include cover crops, reduced soil cultivation, low-energy technology, conservation of water and cleaning agents, recyclable lightweight bottles, and short transport routes. The wines are selectively hand-harvested and carefully vinified, with a focus on honest expression of place. Its range includes Riesling, Burgundian varieties, Chardonnay and Silvaner, including wines from the limestone-influenced Zellertal and the historic, south-facing Morstein site in Westhofen, whose clay marl and limestone soils bring power, volume and elegance.
