Producer

Smith Woodhouse

Portugal

Smith Woodhouse is a specialist producer of premium Port in Portugal’s Douro Valley, centered on its own Madalena Quinta in Rio Torto, an A-rated vineyard, with additional fruit from Quinta do Vale Coelho in the Douro Superior. Owned and operated by the Symington family, Douro winemakers for more than a century, the estate follows a vertically integrated approach. Production is very limited: the Ports are aged for four years in cask, bottled unfiltered, and then cellared for at least a further four years before release. Winemaking is overseen by Charles and Peter Symington.
