Herdade da Maroteira is an Anglo-Portuguese family estate in the foothills of the Serra D’Ossa in Alentejo, held by the same family for more than five generations and now owned and managed by Philip Mollet. Historically focused on cork, livestock and olives, it planted its first vineyards in 2000, beginning with Syrah and later adding Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional. The estate follows sustainable dry farming, with entirely manual vineyard work, hand harvesting and nighttime September picking, while preserving its cork and holm-oak montado. Wines are made at a winery designed in 2017, combining modern technology, selected French and American oak and the team’s oenological expertise. The estate produces reds, whites and rosés, including the Cem Reis and Dez Tostões wines.
