Castiglion del Bosco

Italy

Castiglion del Bosco is a historic Montalcino estate in Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia National Park, surrounded by woodland and dedicated primarily to Sangiovese. A founding member of the Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio in 1967, the property was acquired by Massimo Ferragamo in 2003 and transferred to an international family office in 2022. Certified organic since 2016, it follows a sustainable, terroir-focused approach with non-interventionist viticulture, manual harvests, indigenous-yeast fermentations, and careful élevage. Oenologist Cecilia Leoneschi also directs the vineyards. The wines center on multiple expressions of Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, especially from the Capanna vineyard, while Tenuta Prima Pietra on the Tuscan coast adds an international counterpoint with Bordeaux varieties.
