Producer

Mae Son

Italy

Mae Son is a family-run estate in Trentino-Alto Adige, in the Dolomites, led by Matteo Furlani. Working from steep vineyards in Povo on calcareous soils with limestone, clay, and porphyry, the estate farms certified organic and biodynamic (including Demeter) and harvests by hand. Its approach is firmly minimal intervention: indigenous yeasts, no added sulfites or SO2, and wines bottled unfined and unfiltered. Biodiversity and soil health are central, with polycultures, crop rotation, and preservation of forests, meadows, and water bodies. Mae Son is particularly noted for small-lot orange wine from 100% Müller-Thurgau, made with a strong emphasis on ethical and family-centered production.
