Louis-Antoine Luyt

Chile

French-born winemaker Louis-Antoine Luyt is based in Chile’s Maule Valley, with work extending into the Itata and Bío Bío valleys. Influenced by training in Beaune and work with Marcel Lapierre, he champions organic, dry-farmed vineyards managed by small local growers, often using horse plowing and no irrigation. His low-intervention, natural wines are made with native yeasts and little or no additions, expressing old Chilean varieties including País, Carignan and Cinsault. Particularly focused on pre-phylloxera País vines, Luyt helps preserve traditional Chilean wines such as pipeño while supporting independent farmers. The privately owned project, also associated with Clos Ouvert, reflects a strongly terroir-driven and artisanal approach.
