Karthäuserhof is a historic Ruwer Valley estate in the Mosel, with winegrowing roots dating to 1335 and a long connection to the Carthusian order. Stewarded by the Tyrell and Behler families, it farms its slate-soil vineyards according to biodynamic principles, with hand harvesting, careful grape selection, minimal yields, and a purist, low-intervention approach in the cellar. Sustainability, responsibility, and fair cooperation are central to the estate’s philosophy. Its monopole vineyard, Karthäuserhofberg, is a steep southwest-facing slate site with a cool microclimate and more than 1,000 years of viticultural history. The estate is especially known for Rieslings of freshness, minerality, elegance, and aging potential.
