France

Julie and Toby Bainbridge are a family-run domaine in Anjou, Loire Valley, where they have farmed full-time since 2012. Certified organic and guided by biodynamic principles, they work calcium- and iron-rich sandy soils over black schist, with hand-harvested fruit, indigenous yeast fermentations, and wines made unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal added sulfur. The couple handle both vineyard and cellar work themselves, producing limited natural wines with a distinctly hands-on approach. Their sustainability extends beyond farming: pygmy sheep graze the vineyards to reduce tractor use and provide natural fertiliser, while the wines are bottled in recycled Champagne bottles with plant-based ink labels and no corks.
