Heartland Wines is an award-winning producer founded in the late 1990s by winemaker Ben Glaetzer, with the first vintage in 2001. It is owned by five principal shareholders, including Glaetzer as the major shareholder, and two minority partners. The company owns about 1,000 acres (404 ha) of vineyards in Langhorne Creek and the Limestone Coast, sourcing fruit primarily from its own sites. Winemaking takes place at the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed Barossa Vintners facility in Tanunda. Heartland focuses on sustainable, food-friendly varietal wines and innovative blends from Langhorne Creek, guided by a philosophy of 'quality without compromise'. Sustainability practices include reintroducing native species, strict water management, using goats for soil care, solar power, and Vegan Australia certification.
