Gonzalez Bastias is a small, family-owned estate in Chile’s Central Valley, run by fifth-generation vintner José Luis Gómez Bastías and enologist Daniela Lorenzo. They work roughly four hectares of ancient, own-rooted País and other Creole vines, some around 200 years old, on granite-origin soils. Certified organic and biodynamic, the estate uses no irrigation and follows low-intervention practices including animal grazing, horse-drawn plowing, hand pruning and manual crushing. Native yeasts, minimal sulfite additions, and ageing in clay amphorae and refurbished rauli foudres reflect their traditional, sustainable approach to winemaking.
