Ghiomo

Italy

Ghiomo is a family-run estate in Guarene, Piedmont, between Langa and Roero near Alba, owned and operated by Giuseppino Anfossi. Established in the early nineteenth century, the farm takes its name from a tool used to work wood barrels. Its small, divided vineyards lie on gray marl, clay and sandy soils, with characteristics and altitude comparable to La Morra. Since 1999, the estate has focused on quality, identity and expressing the character of the land, cultivating only native varieties—Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis. Vineyard work is traditional, while the cellar follows sustainable, low-intervention practices, including harvesting at optimal acidity, immediate chilling, short maceration, low-temperature fermentation and batonnage. Ghiomo has no formal organic or biodynamic certification; winemaking is led by Anfossi, with Sergio Molino also cited.
