Filipa Pato

Portugal

Filipa Pato is a husband-and-wife project led by Filipa Pato and William Wouters in Portugal’s Bairrada/Beira Atlântico area. Family-rooted in Bairrada, Filipa is the daughter of Luís Pato and works with a strong focus on indigenous grapes such as Baga, Bical, Cercial and Maria Gomes. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic by Demeter and Ecocert, with farming shaped by Atlantic influence and Jurassic limestone-clay soils. Their approach is minimal intervention, with hand-harvested fruit, native yeast fermentations, and élevage in traditional wooden pipas or clay amphorae. The wines are terroir-driven and centered on pure expression of place, combining tradition and creativity while drawing on old vineyards and small parcels.
