Famille Lieubeau is a family-run Muscadet estate at the mouth of the Loire, near Nantes and the Atlantic. Vignerons since 1816, the family is now represented by Pierre and Chantal Lieubeau and their children, continuing a long tradition of transmission and regional commitment. Their vineyards are farmed organically, with horse ploughing and winter grazing by Ouessant sheep in some old parcels; the estate also maintains Terra Vitis practices. The family’s Crus Clisson, Château-Thébaud and Goulaine come from exceptional old-vine parcels on varied granite, gneiss, schist and other soils. They are hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for several years on lees in underground tanks, a distinctive practice in France. As heirs and leading ambassadors of the Communal Crus initiative begun in the 1990s, Famille Lieubeau focuses on precise, terroir-driven, age-worthy dry whites with freshness, texture and gastronomic character.
