South Africa
False Bay is a boutique-style, small-batch producer in South Africa’s Western Cape, founded in 1994 by Paul Boutinot. Its mission is to rescue grapes from old, under-appreciated vineyards that risk disappearing into large co-operative blends. The winery focuses on preserving these old vineyards and expressing their character through minimal-intervention winemaking, including wild-yeast fermentations and no acid additions. The resulting style prioritizes natural fruit expression. No formal sustainability certifications are noted.
