Domaine Pierre Gaillard

France

Domaine Pierre Gaillard is a family-run estate in France’s Northern Rhône Valley, led by Pierre Gaillard with the involvement of his children. Since 1981, the domaine has focused on steep hillside vineyards in appellations including Côte Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Condrieu, Crozes-Hermitage, and Saint-Péray. The vineyards are farmed with sustainable practices, without noted formal certification, on schist and granite soils. Parcel work is guided by close observation of each site and vintage, with much of the labor done by hand to bring in healthy, ripe grapes that reflect their terroir. In the cellar, Pierre Gaillard favors a terroir-driven approach, including full destemming, malolactic fermentation in oak, and selective use of new barrels.
