Domaine des Albatros

France

Domaine des Albatros is a family-owned estate founded in 2023 by Julien Cartier on ancestral family lands in Chignin, Savoie. Its 2.5-hectare vineyard extends across steep Alpine slopes and flatter ground, growing Jacquère, Altesse, Roussanne, Petite Arvine, Gamay and Mondeuse. The domaine is committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture, with Ecocert and Demeter certifications, agroforestry initiatives and other low-impact practices. Winemaking is natural and minimally interventionist, using indigenous yeasts and, for some cuvées, no additives or sulfites, alongside gentle manual harvesting and varied aging vessels. Cartier’s return to the family vineyard followed work in polar, oceanographic and mountain environments, bringing a distinctive personal journey to these vibrant, sharing-oriented wines.
