Domaine de Carbonnieu is a long-established family estate in Sauternes, passed down since at least 1782 and now run by Alain Charrier and his sons. Its vineyards lie across Bommes and Preignac on gravel, clay and sandy soils, producing Sauternes from predominantly Sémillon, with Sauvignon and Muscadelle. The wines are hand-picked and handmade, and the estate holds HVE Level 3 eco-certification, reflecting its emphasis on environmentally conscious farming and production. Alain Charrier has guided the domaine for more than 30 years, with the next generation now involved in vineyard work, winemaking, commercial activities and hospitality. Formerly known as Domaine de Carbonnieu, it adopted the name Domaine Charrier-Carbonnieu from the 2020 vintage to honor the family.
