Deinhard

Germany

Deinhard is a historic Moselle producer based in Bernkastel-Kues, with roots dating to 1794 and a focus on Riesling alongside other varieties, sparkling wines, alcohol-free wines and bag-in-box products. Its sparkling wines are made in an in-house cellar using traditional bottle fermentation. The associated estates cultivate vineyards in the Middle Moselle, Saar and Ruwer, with ecological work including the regeneration of abandoned vineyards, rebuilding dry-stone walls, supporting landslide slopes and testing fungus-resistant varieties. Since 1987, grapes from its own wooded area have been produced according to organic viticulture regulations, including the organic Riesling offered for more than 30 years. Deinhard also grows herbs as vine ground cover and has planted mixed forest with municipal foresters; the enterprise describes its combined forestry, agricultural and viticultural spaces as climate-neutral.
