Clos de l'Écotard

France

Clos de l’Écotard is a Loire Valley estate associated with a walled vineyard near Brézé in Saumur, planted on limestone-rich tuffeau soils. Its vineyards are farmed organically and with biodynamic techniques, including certified biodynamic practices, reflecting a strong commitment to respecting nature. The estate was founded in 1992 by Michel Chevré and developed from family agricultural land; his son Thibaud took over its management in 2024 alongside Guillaume. The wider domaine works with Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Grolleau, Chardonnay and Sauvignon across varied clay-limestone, clay-sandy and sandy soils. Clos de l’Écotard is owned and operated by Bibendum Wine Co., with Emmanuel Ogereau and Thomas Berthelot overseeing its terroir-driven Le Clos wine. The domaine has received two stars in the Guide RVF.
