Producer

Christian Tschida

Austria

Christian Tschida is a family-owned producer in Burgenland, Austria, working vineyards in Illmitz and Purbach that have been in the family for four generations since the 19th century. With his father, he manages both vineyard and cellar work, focusing on old vines shaped by the moderating influence of Lake Neusiedler and soils of sandy gravel, schist, and limestone. The estate is certified organic and incorporates biodynamic practices, including lake-derived compost, straw mulching, cover crops, and dry farming. In the cellar, Tschida follows a low-intervention approach with spontaneous fermentation, gentle pressing, aging in large neutral oak, and generally no filtration, fining, or added sulfur, producing terroir-driven natural wines.
