Château Rouget

France

Château Rouget is one of Pomerol’s oldest estates, on the Plateau de Pomerol in Bordeaux’s Right Bank, owned by the Labruyère family since 1992. Directed by Édouard Labruyère with Nicolas Ribeiro as Technical Director, the estate farms its vineyards sustainably with cover crops and ploughing, and follows biological and biodynamical principles. The property is in conversion to certified organic farming. Harvesting is manual, with grapes transported in small crates and sorted meticulously in several stages in the cellar. Rouget focuses on Merlot-led wines from gravel and clay soils, with mature vines and careful élevage in oak, expressing a polished, classic Pomerol style.
