Château de Fonbel

France

Château de Fonbel is a Saint-Émilion estate on the sandy-gravelly plain, owned by the Vauthier family since 1971. Today it is managed by Pauline Vauthier, with Alain Vauthier also involved, and winemaking led by both Alain and Pauline. The property is noted as a test-bed for Château Ausone, adding an experimental dimension to its work in the vineyard and cellar. Farming information is mixed in the sources: one describes the vineyards as organic, while others mention no organic or biodynamic certification. The wines are made with manual harvesting and oak ageing, reflecting a traditional, hands-on approach.
