Château de Camensac

France

Château de Camensac is a Grand Cru Classé 1855 estate in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux. Owned by the Merlaut family since 2005, after the Forner family, it has a long history linked to the Médoc and the 1855 classification. The vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on deep gravelly, well-draining soils. The estate has pursued organic conversion since 2016, holds HVE Level 3 certification since 2021, and follows an agro-ecological approach with mechanical soil work; biodynamic trials and grazing livestock on non-vine land are also noted. Winemaking includes parcel selection, temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation, selective manual harvesting, and élevage in French oak. The estate produces its classified wine alongside the second wine, La Closerie de Camensac.
