Centopassi

Italy

Centopassi is the winemaking project of the Libera Terra social cooperative, operating in Sicily’s Alto Belice Corleonese on vineyards reclaimed from the Mafia and owned by the Italian state. Its organically farmed vineyards span varied elevations, soils and exposures around Monreale, San Giuseppe Jato and San Cipirello, with biodiversity restoration and community employment central to the project. Vineyards are managed using the Simonit e Sirch method, and the wines follow a vineyard-driven philosophy, emphasizing the character of each site and grape variety. The style prioritizes elegance, freshness, sapidity and drinkability, with careful vineyard work and winemaking focused on clear fruit expression. The wines’ names also commemorate figures and initiatives associated with the struggle for justice and the reclamation of confiscated land.
