Castello di Buttrio is a family-owned estate in Friuli Colli Orientali, acquired by Marco Felluga in 1994 and now led by his daughter Alessandra and her daughters, continuing a five-generation winemaking tradition. Set around a historic castle, the estate includes old vineyards, some dating to the 1930s–1950s, alongside newer plantings. Manual, low-impact viticulture includes careful pruning, natural products, mechanical weeding and hand-picking. The family focuses on recovering and expressing local varieties and the character of the ponca soils, with respect for each vintage and the surrounding territory. White wines are fermented in steel and aged on their lees, while reds undergo maceration and may see wood; selected grapes produce Riserva wines in favorable years.
