Cal Bessó

Spain

Cal Bessó is a family-owned organic winery in Els Guiamets, Montsant, founded in 2015 by the Castellví Figuerola family in partnership with local grape grower Jaume Vallès. The winery works organically farmed vineyards at La Presa and Les Rotes, planted on varied calcareous soils with limestone, flint, clay and dolomite. Its vineyards include Garnatxa, Carinyena, Macabeu, Picapoll Blanc, Malvasia de Sitges and other Mediterranean and international varieties, including old Carinyena and Garnatxa Peluda vines. Reviving the Castellví family farmhouse, Cal Bessó combines family tradition, craftsmanship and respect for the land. Winemaking is described as minimalist, with careful grape selection, meticulous vinification and precise aging. The wines’ names reflect family heritage and local trees.
