By Farr is a family-owned, small-scale winery founded in 1994 by Gary Farr in Bannockburn, Moorabool Valley, Victoria. Run by Gary and Robyn Farr with Nick and Cassie Farr, it remains deeply hands-on, with Nick as head winemaker. The estate is farmed with biodynamic and organic practices, without formal certification, and focuses on low-yield fruit from a cool, windy site with volcanic loam and limestone-rich soils. By Farr is best known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, alongside Shiraz, Viognier, Gamay and Garganega. The winemaking philosophy is minimal intervention, aiming to express site and season, with techniques including whole-bunch fermentation and French oak élevage.
