Poggiosecco

Italy

Poggiosecco is a family-run estate in Tuscany’s Montalbano hills, between Cerreto Guidi and Vinci, owned by Marco Filipello and Giuseppe Pluchino. Active in the area since 1967, the estate farms vineyards and olive groves on calcareous and sandstone soils at 100–350 metres, with hand harvesting and fruit sourced entirely from its own land. Certified organic since 2004 and biodynamic since 2009, Poggiosecco works without synthetic chemicals, using green manures, manure and lunar-calendar-based preparations. Winemaking is led by the owners and follows a low-intervention approach, with spontaneous fermentations, minimal sulfur and no fining; reds are fermented in concrete and aged in oak, while sparkling wines undergo bottle fermentation.
