Founded in 1987 in Galicia’s Val do Salnés, Mar de Frades makes wines in the D.O. Rías Baixas, expressing the region’s Atlantic character. The winery farms 60 hectares of estate vineyards on sandy soils over granite and works with around 200 independent growers. Since 2003 it has been owned by family-owned Zamora Company, with Paula Fandiño directing winemaking since 2007. Production emphasizes hand-harvested grapes, inert pressing and indigenous-yeast fermentations, supported by a modern facility opened in 2007. Its sustainability efforts include Wineries For Climate Protection certification, renewable energy, biodiversity initiatives and lighter, circular packaging. The wines are presented in a contemporary style centered on freshness, elegance and the influence of the Atlantic.
