Celler de Capçanes

Spain

Celler de Capçanes is a historic village cooperative in Capçanes, Catalonia, founded in 1933 by local families and still communally owned. Revitalized in recent decades, it has been led since the early 1990s by Jürgen Wagner, working closely with local growers alongside winemaker Anna Rovira. The estate farms organically, with certified organic vineyard area and long-established kosher production under OU, KF and Katz certifications. Its wines draw on old, hand-harvested bush vines, including century-old parcels kept for flagship bottlings, with naturally low yields. The cooperative presents itself as a model of sustainability, aimed at helping local people remain on their land with dignity.
