Spain

Abadía de San Quirce is a Ribera del Duero producer founded in 1998 by José Antolín and three partners, with Antolín later becoming the sole owner. The winery takes its name from a 12th-century abbey he purchased in the area. It works with Tinta Fina vineyards in Gumiel de Izán and La Aguilera, including vines ranging from 25 to over 100 years old and pre-phylloxera plantings from 1900. Farming is traditional and labor-intensive, with goblet pruning, hand work, hand harvesting, field selection, and close vineyard monitoring. The winery emphasizes traditional methods respectful of the environment and a connection to Burgos’s rural wine culture. Its wines have received recognition from competitions and critics.
