Bela is CVNE’s Ribera del Duero project, based in Villalba de Duero, Burgos, and named in tribute to Sofía Real de Asúa, a founder’s daughter. Its vineyards in Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa are planted mainly to Tempranillo, with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, on sandy- and clay-loam soils at elevations reaching 1,000 metres. The winery studies and classifies its parcels to express their differences, pursuing elegant, fine wines rather than an overtly powerful style. Winemaking is led by Sara Juan with technical director María Larrea, combining traditional artisanal methods with French and American oak. Bela has introduced photovoltaic self-consumption and a sustainability plan targeting net-zero emissions by 2050, although no organic or biodynamic certification is reported.
