New Zealand

Babich is a family-owned New Zealand winery founded by Josip Babich in 1915. With about 449 ha of vineyard land in Marlborough, including the 42-ha Wakefield Downs estate, it processes around 1,000 tonnes of grapes annually. The estate emphasizes sustainable viticulture, having registered Fernhill as New Zealand’s first sustainably certified vineyard and maintaining organic certification since 2009, with Headwaters Vineyard fully organic. Leadership includes CEO David Babich, while winemaking has been led by brothers Joe Babich (Winemaker of the Year 1994) and Peter Babich (MBE, Wine Institute Fellow).
