Portillo

Argentina

Portillo is the Mendoza-based brand of Bodegas Salentein, part of the Dutch-funded Salentein wine group in Argentina’s Uco Valley. Its vineyards lie at 3,500–5,600 feet and are irrigated with pure Andes snowmelt; the dry climate helps limit pest pressure and chemical treatments. The vegan-friendly wines are made in a gravity-flow winery, reflecting a low-input, sustainable approach. Winemaking is led by Carlos Bauzá, with José “Pepe” Galante overseeing the wines, Laureano Gómez directing production, and Michel Rolland as consultant.
