Lagar de Darei is a third-generation, family-run estate in Portugal’s Dão Valley, managed by the Ruivo family since 1997. Led by winemaker Carlos Ruivo, it focuses on indigenous white and red varieties and follows an organic, low-intervention approach. The estate includes organically certified vineyards, with hand-harvesting, foot-crushing in a granite lagar, cement fermentation, and guano used to support soil health. Its wines reflect traditional, hands-on winemaking and a close connection to the Dão’s local varieties.
