La Mesma

Italy

La Mesma is a family-owned estate in Piedmont’s Gavi region, run by the three Rosina sisters, Paola, Francesca and Anna. Focused exclusively on Cortese and its Gavi expressions, the estate farms certified-organic vineyards in Monterotondo and Tassarolo, on calcareous and other distinctive local soils surrounded by woodland. Biodiversity is central: the sisters avoid chemical herbicides and fertilizers, use cover crops and gentle Simonit & Sirch pruning, and maintain habitats for bees and wildlife. They also use solar photovoltaic energy and do not irrigate. Winemaking takes place in their own cantina, with hand harvesting, soft pressing and temperature-controlled steel fermentation; selected wines use indigenous yeasts and minimal-intervention methods to express the territory. Their approach combines precise vineyard care with full control from vine to bottle.
