Founded in 1954 as one of Aragón’s first wine cooperatives, Bodegas Virgen de la Sierra is a growers-owned producer based in Villarroya de la Sierra, within Calatayud D.O. Its wines come from old bush-vine vineyards farmed using natural and sustainable practices, without stated formal certification. Winemaking is directed by Manuel Castro, known as “Lo Brujo,” whose work reflects the cooperative’s connection to its grower members and local vineyards.
