Producer

Bodegas Caro

Argentina

Founded in 1999, Bodegas Caro is a 50/50 partnership between Argentina’s Catena family and France’s Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), based in Mendoza. It sources fruit from high-altitude vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, with newer plantings in San Pablo. The desert sites combine alluvial soils, low humidity and snowmelt irrigation, and are managed parcel by parcel. Farming focuses on hand-harvesting, low yields, precise irrigation, bud thinning and careful harvest timing. Winemaking is led by Philippe Rolet, with Laura Catena and Saskia de Rothschild among the estate’s leadership, shaping a style rooted in precision viticulture and meticulous fruit selection.
