Adega de Monção

Portugal

Founded in 1958 by 25 vine growers, Adega de Monção is a long-established cooperative winery in Mazedo e Cortes, in the Monção e Melgaço sub-region of Vinho Verde. Today, its ownership remains collective, with around 1,600 associated producers and governance by local viticulturists and entrepreneurs. The winery’s wines express a distinctive terroir shaped by the Minho River, mid-slope vineyards, granitic soils, and a mild climate—conditions especially suited to Alvarinho. Its range includes regional wines such as Muralhas de Monção and Deu-La-Deu. Alongside modernization, the cooperative has pursued sustainability through photovoltaic panels, energy-efficiency measures, lighter bottles, and vegan-certified wines, while participating in the TERR@ENO platform to promote the region’s viticultural landscape and identity.
