Villa Mongalli

Italy

Villa Mongalli is a family-run winery in Montefalco, Umbria, owned by the Menghini family since 1999. Pierpaolo and Natascia Mongalli oversee the estate and work in long-standing collaboration with oenologist Emiliano Falsini. The vineyards, on clay-rich, mineral soils with south-southwest exposure, are planted predominantly to Sagrantino, alongside Sangiovese, Trebbiano and international varieties. Farming includes manual harvest with careful bunch selection, while winemaking emphasizes natural fermentation without selected yeasts, supported by a modern cellar and French oak ageing. The wines are described as having strong character and a personal interpretation of the native Sagrantino grape. Villa Mongalli’s Sagrantino di Montefalco Della Cima has also received Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri award.
