Founded in 1989, Quinta das Bàgeiras is a family-run Bairrada estate led by Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno and his son Frederico, representing four generations of the Alves Nuno family. Its vineyards span varied clay-limestone, clay-sandy and sandy terroirs, with traditional varieties including Baga, Touriga Nacional and Bical, alongside old and centenarian vines. The estate follows a minimalist, low-intervention philosophy: grapes are hand-harvested, reds are foot-trodden in cement lagares without added yeasts, and wines are aged in used wooden vats. Sparkling wines are made exclusively as Bruto Natural, with no dosage. The wines are intended to express their terroir and are noted for their longevity across red, white and sparkling styles.
