Layer Cake is a California-based boutique label founded, owned, and made by winemaker Jayson Woodbridge. It works directly with growers in diverse, historic vineyards across California, Argentina, Italy, and Australia, producing affordable varietal wines designed as a passport to global wine regions. Grapes are hand-picked and wines are made with a minimal-intervention approach, careful fermentation, and French-oak aging, emphasizing fruit, place, richness, and complexity. Sourcing includes old-vine Primitivo from Puglia, Malbec from Mendoza’s Sea of Stones vineyard, Shiraz from McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley, and California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from multiple vineyard sites. Production is deliberately limited, and the label has no stated sustainability certification.
