Folias de Baco is a family-run estate in the Cima-Corgo area of the Douro, founded in 2007 by Tiago Sampaio, a third-generation winegrower, owner, and winemaker with a PhD in viticulture and enology. Working on family land, he farms steep schist and granite vineyards at 500–700 metres, including old vines, with organic principles but no formal certification. Practices include cover crops, kaolin clay, limited copper and sulfur, plant infusions, and no chemical pesticides. In the cellar, Folias de Baco follows a natural, low-intervention approach with native fermentations, no added yeast, and low sulfites. The estate focuses on field blends and a broad range of wines, including reds, whites, orange, pét-nat, sparkling, and sweet wines, released under the Uivo label.
