Domaine Grégoire Hoppenot

France

Domaine Hoppenot is a privately owned Beaujolais estate founded in 2018 by Grégoire Hoppenot, formerly of Chapoutier’s Maison Trenel project. Based in Fleurie with a small parcel in Morgon, the domaine is run directly by Hoppenot, who also makes the wines. Vineyard work is done by hand, and the estate is converting to organic farming, with some parcels already organic-certified. In the cellar, Hoppenot follows a low-intervention approach: whole-cluster fermentations with indigenous yeasts, little or no additives, minimal sulfur, gentle extraction in concrete vats, and aging in concrete, foudre, and used Burgundy barrels. The focus is on expressing the distinct terroirs and vintage character of each site as purely as possible.
