Château Les Vieux Moulins is a family estate in Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, formed in 1997 by uniting vines from Damien Lorteau’s parents and cultivated by the family for four generations. Lorteau took over in 2010 after training in Bordeaux and gaining winemaking experience in France and abroad. The estate is Ecocert-certified organic, with sandy-clay, clay-limestone and gravel soils, dense plantings, manual leaf removal, compost made on the property and non-systematic treatments using contact products and plant teas. Its red wines are based on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Winemaking is deliberately low-intervention, using native yeasts, minimal sulfur, plot-based vinification and small cement tanks without pump-overs, aiming to express the estate’s distinct terroirs through deep, fruity wines.
